Have Questions? We've got the answers right here!
Our All Levels flying trapeze classes are beginner friendly! As for aerials or ground acrobatics, look for something labeled beginner. If a class does not have a level specified, it is an all-levels class, and beginners are welcome!
Flying Trapeze Classes:
Our generic flying trapeze class is “mixed ability level.” You could be in your first class alongside a training professional. If it is your first time on the flying trapeze, we will take the first 5-10 minutes of the class to give you an on-the-ground introduction into what you will be doing. During this time, we will go over safety procedures and flying trapeze etiquette. Once you’ve completed the introduction you will spend the remainder of the class taking turns on the trapeze attempting various tricks and then dropping into the net. We allot the last portion of the class to attempting to catch the tricks that you have been working on.
As a general rule of thumb, we dictate the speed of the class on each individual’s ability and comfort levels. If you are afraid of heights and just want to swing and drop, that is perfectly acceptable and we will help you progress at your comfort. If you are picking up the tricks quickly, we will allow you to move on to something different. Since this class is for mixed ability levels, you may be learning your first trick while someone else in the class has been working on the same trick for several classes. During the portion when we are attempting catches, there are a lot of variables aside from ability level – so, if, in your first class, you are not able to make a catch, please do not think this reflects poorly on your ability for you may be overcoming more obstacles than others! Our primary goal is to enjoy yourself – if we can teach you a little circus in the process, that’s just bonus!
Flying trapeze classes have a maximum of 10 people. Classes with 6-10 people booked will run for 2 hours. Classes with 1-5 people booked will run for 1 hour. Either way, the class structure will be the same, with time allotted for catches at the end.
Aerial and ground apparatus classes:
Most of our aerial and ground apparatus classes are 60-90 minutes. We recommend you show up 15 minutes prior to your class so you can warm up and stretch on your own. The instructor will spend a few minutes at the beginning of the class doing specific warms ups relevant to what they’ll be teaching as well as apparatus-specific warmups. The instructor will plan about 60 min of instruction on the apparatus and may have relevant conditioning planned as well!
We think you would be amazed at how little upper body strength is required for the beginner level classes! We have designed all of our beginner classes so someone can walk in off of the street and be moderately successful. As a good test for flying trapeze, you should be able to hang from a pull-up bar with straight arms for 20-30 seconds. With that being said, if you have any injuries that affect your grip, arm strength, or shoulder stability, please check with your doctor or our staff before signing up for a class.
Our insurance company says kids have to be 3 years old. We recommend 8 years old to participate in any of our full classes. Most children have a mental leap at about 8 years old that allows them to build on previous experiences and progress from one class to the next; children younger than that still have a wonderful experience, but may not “learn” as much. We’ve had participants as young as 3 and as old as 91!
Anyone above 250lbs should consult the staff before signing up for a circus class. There are a couple of strength to weight ratio tests that we can do to ensure that we are able to keep you safe during your class. The equipment is all rated at several thousand pounds, but more often than not, your strength to weight ratio is the limiting factor.
This depends largely on the weather and your comfort levels. For your first class on the flying trapeze we would recommend a tight fitting top, appropriate athletic under garments, and pants or capris that cover the backs of your knees without restricting too much motion (yoga pants are great, skinny jeans are not). The tent building is not temperature controlled, so while we have lots of air movement for the summertime, the winter will be a bit cold indoors. If you are taking a night-time class outdoors, consider wearing bright colors so they show up on the photos and videos better!
This is a physically active activity. We have some drinks and snacks for sale. If it is your first class, you’ll need to sign a waiver. You can either fill it out online using the link at the top of the page or arrive 15-20 minutes before your class so you have ample time.
All sales are final. Regular classes can be canceled or rescheduled more than 24 hours in advance. Private Parties can be canceled or rescheduled more than 2 weeks in advance. Pre-paid bulk packages purchases are non-refundable. Any cancelations will be handled with refund credits that can be used towards future classes.
If there is a chance of rain and you are registered for an outdoor class, we will give you the option of moving to the indoor class (space permitting). Since the tent is not temperature controlled, we may cancel class for the extreme cold; this decision will be made by the staff on the day of the class if we are not able to get the tent interior to a reasonable temperature.
